Interesting piece of information. Most of the manufactured foods found in biscuits, food bars, cookies contain the same hydrogenated oils and 0%trans fats. Wonder why manufacturers are still not responsive to consumers' needs?

Dr. Russell, I literally get emails every single day from people letting me know they either lost all of the weight they were looking to lose or lost X amount of weight in X amount time and were looking forward to losing the rest.

Judging by my inbox, the results are quite good.

i read an article on this awhile ago in a fitness magazine.. and i read everything youve just said. but along with that, it also said that the way to catch it is to look at the total fat. add up all of the fats listed, and compare that to what it says under "total fat". If you have a difference in numbers, the left over amount is actually the amount of trans fat. as i recall, the article read that no, they do not legally have to list the true amount under "trans fat", but they DO have to list it under "total fat". how true that is, im not positive. i just wanted to share what i recall.

Hi there (couldn't find a name),

Can I ask what sort of results people are having with this? You mention having strong will-power for yourself, so I'm wondering how others are getting on.

Regards,
Dr Martin Russell

Actually this loophole has been applied for a long time and pre-dates the requirement to detail transfat content.

Many years back I recall seeing a spray on olive oil product (olive oil is 100% fat) indicate that it was "fat free" on account of the fact there was less than 0.5 grams fat per serving. Amazing.

Wow, that is crazy, I haven't heard anything about that. I'm gonna have to start staying away from anything in a package, the more I find out about mass produced food, the more I don't want it.

I've told my kids most food in the grocery store is stuff we shouldn't eat, just like most things on TV shouldn't be watched. Simply trying cut out white/enriched flour, HCFS and hydrogenated oils significantly eliminates options at the store.

At least we're not starving, but we're on the other end of the food related death spectrum.

BTW, thanks for the good info, especially your calorie estimator in Phase 1.
